MY WORK
During my year's internship at Bournemouth University, I had the incredible opportunity to work at Counter Terrorism Policing as a Digital communication Assistant based at New Scotland Yard, In this role, I focused on enhancing my photography, videography and video editing skills while also assisting CTP in reaching a younger demographic through their social media platforms of Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin.

Each month, I provided ideas to our CTP agency partner, Influence Digital, introducing compelling content such as seamless carousels and collaborative posts to engage the target audience and make CTP more collaborative. Additionally, I had the privilege of assisting in two major incidents, the attack on Sir David Amess in Southend and the Liverpool Remembrance Day bombings. Furthermore, I also played my part in planning the Queen's funeral by gathering every address in the UK to assist in security measures for the event.
Overall, my time at CTP was incredibly enjoyable and fulfilling. It provided me with a valuable opportunity to experience what it is like to work in an intense and fast-paced environment. Additionally, I also had the privilege to learn the fundamentals of Public relations and Digital marketing, which I believe will be invaluable as I transition into my new role as a Media and Communication Assistant at the Metropolitan Police. The hands-on experience and knowledge gained during my time at CTP have equipped me with the necessary skills to excel in the industry, and I am confident I can apply these learnings effectively and make a positive impact in my new position.

CAMPAIGNS
In my time at Counter Terrorism Policing, I worked on numerous campaigns that aimed to prevent and respond to terrorist threats and activities. These campaigns included the ACT early campaign, which focused on educating parents about how to spot the signs of terrorist activity in their children. This campaign aimed to raise awareness and provide parents with the necessary tools to identify potential radicalisation and spot the signs early and ACT!
Another campaign I worked on was the Eastenders right wing campaign. This initiative aimed at preventing and combating terrorist activities. This initiative aimed to address the issue of right-wing extremism by incorporating relevant storylines into the popular television show EastEnders. By showcasing the consequences and dangers of right-wing extremism through compelling storylines, this campaign sought to engage a wide audience and promote understanding and awareness of this form of terrorism.

The Trigger Point campaign was another significant project I participated in. The aim of this campaign was to attract and encourage people to sign up and work for us. We aimed to not only inform potential candidates about the job opportunities available but also educate them about what the job would entail. Each Week, we created various posts, such as interactive stories and posts, to engage with the audience and generate interest in the work of CTP. These tools were designed to provide insights into the nature of the job, its challenges, and rewards, ultimately enticing individuals to consider joining the CTP family.
Lastly, I had the opportunity to work on the Winter and Summer vigilance campaigns. In the Winter vigilance campaign, our focus was on promoting safety and awareness during the festive season. We collaborated with various Christmas markets and events such as Winter Wonderland to effectively share our message. Moving on to the Summer vigilance campaign, we launched #BeSafeBeSound to raise awareness about safety measures during the summer season. To maximise our reach, we partnered with music festivals like Wireless, Glastonbury and the O2. These partnerships allowed us to reach a wide audience and emphasise the importance of staying vigilant and taking the necessary precautions needed to ensure the public is safe during these times.

POLICE DAYS OUT
I also had the pleasure of enjoying some fantastic days out with the team and engaging in various activities and events. One memorable experience was attending the Association of Police Communicators in Lincoln. This conference provided an excellent opportunity to network with professionals in the field and gain valuable insights into police communication strategies.
Additionally, I also had the chance to go out with frontline officers mainly the Project Servator Team, where I actively participated in capturing content and even had the opportunity to do a piece of camera with an officer. This hands-on experience allowed me to understand police work and effectively communicate it to others. Furthermore, I was honoured to be asked to participate as a hostage in a CTSFO (Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officer) exercise in Guildford. This exercise not only showcased the dedication and skills of these specialised officers but also provided me with a unique perspective on their operations. Overall these experiences were not only enjoyable but also contributed to my understanding of police communication.
